N. Korea has had nukes for a long time but has been contained. A gradual warming of relations would bring about partial opening up of that country as we did with Red China. Sicne we cannot invade them without dooming South Korea to a blitzkrieg we'd better start making nice. It's just common sense. If Kerry has anything I admire it's common sense. You dont wake up a sleeping tiger unless you have a very big gun and are ready to use it. By the way, Bush has also lied to us that NK has missiles capable of hitting Hawaii or Alaska. Those are just excuses to spend many billions on Rumsfield's pet project SDI which no doubt his contractor buddies get rich off. But while I'd support further testing deployment could utrn out to be a real waste of money and irritate China and NK both into NOT complying with us again. Communists are paranoid people. have to be careful with them.

By the way, the study team featured heavy involvement from the decidedly non-partisan GAO and CRS.

Nonetheless, unless I'm mistaken the representatives on the heading of the report cited are all republicans.

Boy, those were the days. When things were decidedly non-partisan. After all. You are what you measure. Guess there will be no measurement of "Mass Layoffs".

Mass Layoff Statistics Program Is Discontinued |
This is the final news release for the Mass Layoff Statistics
(MLS) program. Since 1994, the Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration has funded the program.
That funding will end on December 31, 2002. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has been unable to acquire funding from alternative sources and must
discontinue the MLS program.
Limited historical data will continue to be available at bls.gov on the BLS Web site.

Thanks Craig...you can lead people to water, but you can't make them drink as the old saying goes. Some folks just want to continue believing the same ole stuff.
