Right, Rumsfield openly lied about us arming Iraq.
I heard him do it. Once I heard that I realized he'd have no problem with falsifying evidence as Cheney did when he claimed Mohammed Atta met with Iraqi agents in prague. That story has been long debunked by the Czech government. A mistake. Never happened. Yet cheney repeats it on Meet The Press. And he knows exactly what he's doing. He knows it's BS but doesn't care.

PT,

And many people arguing this point also argue the point of engagement with Cuba or North Korea. And at some future time the repressive behavior (or even mass killing as in the DPRK) goes beyond the pale and we look back and say - oh my God - we supported it.

What we need is a post cold war policy that states that we don't support any of these regimes - period. No engagement with rogue states, no support, no trade. Just work to develop democratic institutions as an alternative.
