Don,

Why bring religion into the discussion at all? Its called 'Jew baiting'. AS got mad and responded quickly and I suspect some of his real feelings bubbled out.

If you don't see a problem - take a long look in the mirror and read some history.

If you said all terrorists are arabs or associated Islam with terrorism then yes its racist. It may be that all the 9/11 terrorists are men, but that does not make all men terrorists. Anymore than it makes all Muslims or Saudi's terrorists. Do their societies suffer from conditions that make them more prone to terrorism - yes, but thats a different issue.

We have ground that subject up a lot on this thread and many of us from across the left-right spectrum have emphatically denounced viewing the world from the race/creed baiting perspective.

John

Don,
The foreigner part is the key to what AS said. Its a code word for lack of patriotism which is reinforced by his comment about them not serving in the military. Most Americans do not serve in the military especially since we have a volunteer army. So what AS is doing is impuning the integrity and loyalty of his opponents based on their religion. This is usually the Pat Buchanan line--i suspect AS has more in common with Pat than with John Kerry who is certainly a decent man. So this slew of Kerry campaign posts today turns out in reality to be anti-Bush/neocon more than pro-Kerry. Mike
