Reversion to trend, not just mean - sometimes the trend is positive long term - per captia income, average lifespan, volume of world trade, etc. A Silicon Valley Defaltion prespective - I was walking around the Stanford Mall to see what was going on in retail and see if the fountain pen store had any great discounts. Saw a sign at one of the high end grocery dealers for White Truffles. Turns out they had a 40% discount from the normal price of $5.36 USD / gram. So I bought some for my wife, who likes to cook - 7 grams, and the grocer rounded the price down to $20.00 even, since they were in 4 smaller pieces. This is how we are coping in Silicon Valley - experiencing deflation, and searching for bargains...;-) Happy Bargain Hunting in the New Year !
