S2, the Pugh survey and the Power Elite survey are interesting slices to differing points of view. On the surface, they both make intuitive sense. What's interesting among the power elite is how concentrated as a percentage of the total population they are within thier respective countries. The US is more spread out per capita at the "top" of the economic ladder. And, your chances of getting to or near the "top" are greater in the US than in most countries of the world.

Economically, the most interesting country to watch over the next ten years will be China. The tension between opportunity for economic growth and government control will be phenomenal!
