Yes, we do use "like" in different ways.

Those things I find absorbing I can't help "liking". Fascinating is liking, as far as I'm concerned.

I find the speculation over whether we will be at war with Iraq absorbing, and I find the question whether there can be peace in the Middle East in the next five years fascinating, but I don't like either problem.

If I had cancer, which I hope I never get, I think I would find the progress of the disease, and the treatment options, absorbing, but I have no expectation that I would like either.
