Austin is full of people from here. I went to Austin in 98 couldn't believe it! The person at the spca was from fremont, the car rental girl from sunnyvale... Austin very eclectic like SF used to be. My family is from TX so I know the state.

Darfot,

We already have high income taxes (10.3% after $40K), high sales taxes (8%+ in some counties), and high real estate taxes (if a recent home buyer like most). We also have high taxes on tobacco and gasoline compared to many states. Now the CA state government needs to raise more money to cover a huge hole. It is unbelievable. I cannot image where all the money has gone over the years of paying these taxes. The roads? Nope. The schools? No. Both are in sad shape. I truly cannot image where it is going. A lot used to go into new prisons but I think they stopped building them. I'd love to see a graph telling me where the money goes.
