HH,
With NK perhaps the "fool me once, shame on you" quote should be given a second look. These are "odd ducks" these koreans. You even see this in the South when watching one of their student demonstrations or a Moonie gathering. We should be careful about going to war with a nation who can quickly destroy Seoul and annihilate our tripwire force. They are odd ducks with a million man army, a couple of nukes and with little to lose. Our policies with Asian nations have historically been tinged with a lack of understanding of the Asian view of saving face and respect. We lacked understanding of both japan and china in earlier times.
Perhaps the NK look at things and somehow see this lack of respect. Perhaps, unlike Iraq, thats what they are after--to rejoin the world not to destroy it. We lived in a world when a Maoist run China gained nukes and we never talked of attacking china. So lets give peace one more chance. We can always go to war in the spring or summer if renewed dialogue and/or the involvement of china does not work. As a former Mash fan, one wouldnt want to go to war with korea in the winter anyway.
