If their intent was to kill all the Irish, why let 4 million escape to America? Did the British pressure US not to accept them?

Some of the sites I suggested mention genocide as well... But I honestly believe that it was mostly arrogance, and stupidity, on the part of the British, rather than a single evil plan.....After all, millions of Irish came to America and were allowed to do so.
