As a United States citizen who enjoys traveling in almost all parts of Canada, I ought to be happy to hear you say that. The reason I can see is that Canada is rich in natural resources and the whole country--at least the physical part of it--is one big inflation hedge. Natural resources have not done well in a disinflationary decade, and as you point out the trend has been down for the $C. But with countries starting to engage in competitive devaluation, Canada ought to have an edge. A lot of US money is going to flow into Canada with rising energy prices.
