Mike,

Geeze, first you lecture me about how I don't understand Asia: "Our policies with Asian nations have historically been tinged with a lack of understanding of the Asian view of saving face and respect." Then it's : "As far as saving face goes, i have heard that paper tiger nonsense over and over again." You can not have it both ways, we ether have to be concerned about "face" (for both sides) or we don't.

As for the Chinese and Lop Nor, it was Nixon-Kissenger who told the Sovs that a preemptive strike was a bad idea. It was in our interest at the time to see a "China card".

I do not believe I have I advocated a military strike. I have simply pointed out that they will get wiped out, not us, if they attack. Frankly we should do what happens here so frequantly... put them on ignore. They cheated on the agreement since before Bush was in office, it's up to the North Koreans to show us that they can live up to an agreement. If the South Koreans want to subsidize NK, thats up to them, but not my tax dollars thank you.
