not sure anyone owes you an explanation for stock performance. but you could decided for yourself that the biggest factor is 'controversy' - the market doesn't like it. Not sure what Blanchard is about in making assertions which can't be proved.

I think about a year ago various people were trying to point out on this thread that the Barrick hedges might be an obstruction to the price of the stock. There was, as I remember, a good deal of angry response to this idea.
