Post lay-offs: Just to give you an idea of what is going on since. My husband works for Verizon and 60 guys, with under five years of service, from his garage were let go of that Thursday before Christmas. This past weekend they went into a "state of emergency" (which means all workers are forced to go in on their days off). He was "forced" to work both Saturday and Sunday, and yesterday, New Years Day, the entire garage was forced to work. Here they lay off employees less than a week before Christmas, and then they force their remaining work force to work weekends and holidays to make up for the lack of manpower - go figure!
