One year before they started the plant I went to Clinton Lake as the ice was breaking up. That was before minimum tillage and a lot of dust had landed on the ice and melted through. That caused the ice to break into gazillions of little 2" cylinders bobbing and clinking all over the lake. The sound was awesome and that's the only time I've seen it happen.
