In the US trusts you get depletion, which can defer a very large part of the current income from taxation. But it reduces the basis of your stock. The tax situation differs widely from one trust to another, and depends on how long you have held the shres and how much depletion you have already taken. And there are other deductions. Each trust issues annual guidelines for reporting the income and the deductions.
