Of course this is not the first time our government has used the big lie technique. During the Vietnam war they said again and again that if we lost face in Vietnam the communists would soon take over all of Asia. The so called Gulf of Tonkin incident that President Johnson uses to rally Congressional support for military action was later shown to be a fabrication.
