-- Bush to Announce Economic Stimulus Next Week --

CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - President Bush said on Thursday
he would announce details next week of an economic stimulus
package expected to total as much as $300 billion with tax
breaks for businesses and individuals.

"Next week when I talk about an economic stimulus package,
I will talk about how best to create jobs," he told reporters
at his ranch in Crawford, Texas.

Bush declined to offer details of what the package, which
sources have said he may unveil during a visit to Chicago,
might include. But it is expected to include a cut of up to 50
percent in taxes on corporate dividends to shareholders.

Administration officials also want to accelerate cuts in
income tax rates to 2003 from 2004, though the nation's top
earners may be left out because some of Bush's political
advisers are worried about Democratic accusations that he is
catering to the rich.
