Further, defeating Saddam will bring a great deal of stability to the region.

That's funny...every one of Saddam's neighbors have said the opposite...maybe they did not get your memo.

Defeating Iraq first may be useful in causing Iran to become a lesser, or even a non-problem.

NK evidence to the contrary. I understand that Iran is now also accelerating their nuclear plans.

What makes you think WE can solve this problem?

Two prior administrations have shown us that it is possible to solve it. Carter catalyzed a historic agreement between Israel and Arab neighbors. Clinton came so very close to an agreement between Palestinians and Israel. Both of these achievements show that it is possible to solve the single most causal wound to world stability. One that the administration has barely even attempted to work on.

In the case of the Palestinians, nothing can happen until they stop the violence.

Since there is no unanimity in Palestine, and a single act of violence can be and is often the work of individuals or an individual rogue organization, the precondition ensures that this will never be solved. This is an impossible demand, forged by Israel and supported by the administration to maintain the status quo. It engenders a great deal of animosity towards the US, for the double standard of supporting an Israel long in violation of UN resolutions for taking land not theirs.

Your views deny the Palestinians the same fervor and patriotism you would violently claim for yourself as an American whose land had been taken away.
