Maria Barteromo: To what do you assume the strong ISM number comes from?
Norbert Ore (ISM Chairman): ...It came as a bit of a surprise. The basis of it was in the high tech area. We saw significant improvement particularly in the electronics and photographic SICs...
MB: Is this pace sustainable?
NO: I don't think it is..
New order number is very impressive. I can't account for all of it. I know that Food, Electronics, and Instruments and Photographic indeces were all in the 70s, which is very strong and helped bring the overall New Order number into the sixties.
MB: What areas are we still seeing weaknesss in?
NO: There are a number of lagging industries. Glass, aggregates. Industrial equipment and computers, which is basically capital equipment and computers sectors, are still lagging behind...
