1) Until now you had to pay cash for a car which is easier for Chinese than for Americans because Chinese save about 25% of their incomes. 2) No place to park. 3) Poor roads. As we speak thousands of miles of mulitlane roads are under construction and consumer credit is being introduced. If Americans could not borrow money to buy a car then 3/4 of the population of L.A. would be riding the bus. Congestion in the major cities -- and these are huge cities -- will only get worse.

If so many Chinese can and will buy cars when their roads are built....................where will all the gasoline come from? It seems that the Chinese will be a competitor for gasoline. As China's standard of living increases their needs for oil will multiply .

This scenario sounds like it's on a collision course with the US economic needs !! We are currently existing in a sort of equalibrium as far are cheap labor needs and the existence of a rich market ( the US population ).

China may become our biggest competitor for the world's oil reserves.
