Let's try this: Small demonstrations usually don't get reported because they're small- -unless they're destructive.

They do sometimes get reported because they are unusual. Early on, there weren't many demonstrations against the Iraq war. The few that did occur got reported because they were and unusual- -and because a liberal press wanted to report them.

Large demonstrations get reported because they are large.
