2002 we hit 1950 COMP on Dec. 31 and rose from there to 2098 in a week. It was all downhill from there.

JRI, the surprise cut was on Wednesday 1/3/01

As for last year's action, the high on the naz last year was on Wednesday 1/9 and the January high on the Dow was on 1/7/02
