I am a bit surprised. I usually consider myself more conservative than yourself. I believe the Surgeon General has a valid role in health awareness. More than that, the concept of Compassionate Conservatism is something I embrace fully. I totally reject handouts for the indolent, but I believe health awareness and ultimately basic health care should be provided to the general population. This does not mean however that people should receive inordinate health care, which is impractical for society. Death is a cruel reality of life and the greatest focus of government heath care must be made for young adults, children, and the unborn. * * *
