I am not sure if all this demand (to be a suicide bomber!) is because of brainwashing.

Demonic possession then??

but she has zero understanding of the Japanese culture, and their sense of honor.

Ahh.. that euphemism for human pride and the avoidance of being shamed, no matter the means... That's what they call "honor"..

It's not the kind of "honor" you think it is Zonder. Otherwise, there would not be a "Yakuza" in Japan.

Arabs feel this same sense of pride.. but one thing for the Japanese is that, for them, it would have beeen dishonorable to target civilians with their kamikaze attacks. There was no glory in sacrificing their lives to kill unarmed opponents.

Hamas people were quoted as saying "We are literally turning young people away". I am not sure if all this demand (to be a suicide bomber!) is because of brainwashing.

You make you own judgement, but mine is that there is now a perceived glory in being a suicide bomber - not because of brainwashing/education/Quran but because they realized it WORKS in getting back to their oppressors. That's the feeling I get.

My impression is that there was a crescendo of this feeling back in March, but the euphoria has subsided somewhat as the Israelis have reoccupied and the success rate has dropped. There's definitely a feedback loop in the culture that starts with authority figures blessing suicide bombing as martyrdom, and continues with honor and glory (not to mention $) going to the suicide bomber and his family. The Palestinians, judging from the polls, still support suicide bombings, but not by as much as in the spring -- support has dropped form 70%+ to about 50%+ as I recall.
