"Bush statements were part of a plan to get Korea into line but never anticipated the reaction "

Best laid plans.....
John,
However this is not a reason for americans to attack bush--criticize yes. This administration has been clear from the beginning about the axis of evil. They got that right. Yes, there are other countries that suck but he got the big three. For instance as bad as syria is, they couldnt be in this game without Iran. Afganistan and Yemen became tools of al quaida. There is one country who backed into the axis imo to avoid being swallowed up by the religious zealots they created and that is saudi arabia. Bush is giving them a way out so labeling them is unnecessary at this point. They apparently will give us support in Iraq and probably once iraq is neutralized as a threat(and iraq is #1 threat to SA), the US and Saudi Arabia will jointly go after Al Quaida who operate in the desert border area + eliminate the financing that goes on. If not, Saudi Arabia will join the list. I bet that after Iraq they will not defy us.

The interesting thing about North Korea is that this blow up may prove to be a good thing down the road when they are brought back into line once and for all thru diplomacy i believe. Bad cop(US)/Good cop strategy again in play, albeit unintended. Lets keep in mind with NK that they were violating the old treaty since 1998. We flushed that out so certainly when another deal is reached, it will be less about trust and more about verify. And Bush's misstep will seem like a stroke of genius when this plays out. Mike@optimisticthismorning.com OR one good day in the market makes me smile.
