We assume evil is all loud and obvious - eating babies, burning teddy bears, and mass cult rapes and whatnot. It's hard to believe evil is really so mundane, so pedestrian. The most insidious evils aren't black chains of enslavement. They are grey wisps of thoughtless despair.
