Reagan was also re elected in 1984, a pivotal year, a milestone year in American contemporary politics; Ronald Reagan achieved much but his electoral record of .3122% is a record that only a few realize the significance of.

GZ,
Truman was elected in '48. Reagan remains the only President (except Bush who is still at risk) elected in a year ending in zero to not die in office since a certain Sioux medicine man put a curse on the office in the 1880s.

1900 Mckinley
1920 Harding
1940 Roosevelt
1960 Kennedy
1980 Reagan (His wound may well have been fatal a couple decades earlier.)

Here's hoping that GW breaks the curse, maybe Ronnie already did by surviving. ggg

Edit... Following the posts back I see the streak goes back further and the curse attributed to Tecumseh. There was also a Sioux in the 1880s who specified those elected in zero years though I can't remember his name and am too lazy to look for it. Either way, though I don't believe in curses, the coincidence is startling.
