Phone Vision is slow all the time in my area however when I connect the phone to my laptop it is as fast as my DSL connection. WI FI is being talked about as the next big thing to connect laptops but has severe limitations. A 300 ft range is about all that's available. Millions of antennas need to be installed to get even close to the coverage that PCS has with Vision. When I pointed this out on another board several posters informed me that the two systems do different things but everything I read about WI FI talks about connecting your laptop to the internet. So what's the difference? Imagine the cumbersome system of WI FI as you move from cell to cell each owned by a different entity. Like driving across town talking on your cell phone and roaming on 100 different systems. Hotels are possible sites for WI FI like Starbucks coffee has now but why not just use PCS internet for $10 a month rather than pay the hotel per minute? Also WI FI is being held back because it isn't secure but the PCS CDMA system is very secure. WI FI is being pushed by companies that don't have the capacity or system to offer a plan like Vision. You decide which is better.
