The largest investors have the problem of finding a market big enough to absorb their capital. The US bond market is the largest investment vehicle in the world. The Japanese yanked a huge sum out of the US bond market in 1987, which precipitated the crash in the Dow. The second largest economy in the world was the Japanese market, and repatriating their capital helped them drive that wonderful bubble from which they have yet to recover.
