Condor, if you or anyone else on the thread wishes to read a fine, fine novel about third or fourth generation Japanese farmers (strawberries as I recollect) in the San Juan or other islands off the BC coast and the chaos and sadness that took hold of their lives after the internment, look for "Snow Falling on Cedars". It is a quite precious depiction of their lives, their loyalty and the cruelties that some (not all) wreaked on their little universe, all within the context of a murder mystery.
