hi al, this might interest you... if not for anything else, simply another tool to look at.

i have been using full stochastic (14-5-10) lately watching for reversals off of the 20 and 50. i then look for a confirmation of the trend reversal with a 0 cross on percentage price oscillator (5-10-1)... ie looking for the 5 day / 10 day ema crosses.

this is very specific for looking for reversals, but i have found it useful as a filter simply get my attention. i then look at other charts to make decisions.

have a look and see what you think against some stocks that you follow... i have been relatively happy with it as a signal, on the weekly charts as well (using full stoch 3,1,2 and ppo 1,2,1)

have a good weekend al.

Thanks, Al:

Your answers are very helpful!

I suppose F/A is always used as a tool. It's nice to know when assay results from drilling are expected. The problem with F/A is it's very confusing. How many times have you waited for news from a company only to find it gets delayed for one reason or another? I hold very few stocks LT so F/A is not that useful to me.

I couldn't agree more. My past investments have traditionally been based entirely on F/A. I've found that with F/A, I can usually find some good stocks.

HOWEVER, your comments above (delays, problems, etc.) are very accurate. This is the norm, rather than the exception. I'm usually off by a factor of 2-5X on my time estimates for positive events.

It's time for me to put as much effort into T/A as I do in F/A.

Thanks again,
Geoff

Al:

6) "What's your favorite T/A book"?

Trading for a Living by Dr Elder.

Thanks for the recommendation on the book. Bought it at Barnes & Noble this morning.

You should have warned me it wasn't cheap!! US$66 (C$93)!!!

There's also a companion "Study Guide" by Elder for US$40. Is this worth the purchase? Or will I do fine just reading the "Trading for a Living" book?

Thanks,
Geoff
