By the time of the front-loaded primaries, it will be taken for granted in the Democratic party that it's already over, Big Time. Some of those who recently got in will have long since cut and run. One or two clowns like Dean will still be around for no apparent reason-then will whine about "big money special interests" when they have to finally call it quits.

But Loserman will get it with ease in an environment where the pros simply need to fill the slot (They can't let Bush run unopposed.) Lieberman can run, keep the large contributors looking forward to future elections, and go right back to his Senate seat the day after the vote. He might even help a few desperate Congressional incumbents survive.

Lieberman, therefore, is the party's best bet for limiting its losses...
