Obviously cloning itself has not yet affected me, but the philosophy supporting it certainly has. It is essentially the same philosophy that supports abortion and homosexuality. The general acceptance of cloning, abortion and homosexuality is a symptom of a grave social ill that has caused large numbers of people to deny what nature has designed them to be. The anti-human philosophy behind this denial maintains that men have no mutual identity to which they are bound by nature. Abortion/cloning and homosexuality are admissible because men, led essentially by a “scientific” priesthood of atheists, have arrogated to themselves power to arbitrarily define the essence of human nature. You yourself are victim of the thinking, essentially having here argued that the ultimate measure of human worth is found in one’s mental capacity. If a human has a brain that is undeveloped, you claim it expendable and that murdering it is really no great issue. From that horrid vantage-point, abortion/cloning is ethical.
But those who argue as you’ve done quite miss the truth of their own identity. From the very moment of human conception a specific fundamental biological process comes into being that marks us as human, not as cabbages, pigs or horses, but as human. All civilization is based upon this process and not upon thinking. The process began not at all having to do with any capacity for thought. You, by nature’s design, began to self-express your human identity by a uniquely human path of development that expressed such things as human cell-division, hands, sight, a heart, a brain and eventually human thought. Yet, instead of taking into account this very human nature that is responsible for this development, you completely ignore it to instead define humanity only inasmuch as it thinks. In other words, a human can be conceived in humanity, begin to self-express marvelously into human cells, human skin, a human head, human eyes, human hands, a human heart, human lungs and a host of other uniquely human developments, with a human DNA marker that defines it as capable of interbreeding with any other member of our human species, and you will ignore this natural and essentially human self-expression to ultimately define the developing human as non-human until such a time as his brain begins to function. It is obviously a false and arbitrary definition when so much of human nature exists and is functioning prior to the development of the brain. Indeed when the brain itself is dependent upon this prior human nature, we obviously must take this nature also into account as we define man, else we simply ignore who we truly are. Besides, how much of a mind must a man have before he is deemed human? It is utterly ridiculous to use your arbitrary definition of man when nature itself has obviously made us so very much more than this.
It is not merely the fact that abortion/cloning and homosexuality are abominable in themselves, though they are indeed abominable. It is that they deny our nature and mutual identity and they rather effectively cause us to deny our identity as we accept them. No people who so artfully deny human nature can long survive. As nature begins to press against such a self-deceived people, to find relief the people themselves will turn against themselves via Might Makes Right nihilism. In fact that is exactly why our society now uses its might to murder helpless kids. Nature has by sundry means withheld certain resources from us, and so to keep more of these resources for ourselves we have arbitrarily determined unborn kids are expendable because they allegedly are not us. Comprefriggin’hensive madness.
We did the same thing to Jews in Nazi Germany, arbitrarily defining their humanity away, despite the fact that we slept with them, bought and sold with them and interfaced with them as we did with everyone else. We defined away black humanity also during slavery and Jim Crow, claiming they were not us, this, despite that slave-owner after slave-owner was literally having children, their own flesh and blood, by slaves.
We likewise today turn against our own children and kill them in our own human wombs because we are too self-deceived to acknowledge that those children are us, that they possess precisely the same nature we possess and that that nature is responsible for both the unique pattern of physical development common to man. Whether it is dividing cells or composing music, it is all self-expression, it is all caused by our specie’s unique nature, and it is all human. All of it is us and it all defines us. No part of it can be ignored as non-human because all of us have had to travel the same essential path.
To kill the children on the basis of the arbitrary claim they are not human makes man, and not nature, the final arbiter in who gets to live and who must die. With that sort of power in such hands, all life cheapens with every tick of the clock. When we presume it ethical to thwart nature’s design here, we go too far. We actually sin against nature – our very own nature. This is why abortion/cloning are essentially dangerous to any society, and it is why I care not to support them in any way. The moral error of homosexuality is quite similar to that of abortion and cloning. All of these abominations are objective sins against humanity and they corrupt who we are in nature.
Nevertheless I understand that people will generally refuse to acknowledge the truth, especially if it threatens to make them uncomfortable. I therefore accept that homosexuals and abortion/clone proponents will do as they please, however much their actions run contrary to their own nature and mine. Who they sleep with and murder is their business. But it becomes my business when the homosexuals seek to use the might of law to force the Boy Scouts to accept them, or when they seek to use the might of law to force me to pay for abortion/cloning with tax dollars, or when they seek to teach my children in schools and churches, etc. I must take issue with those who wish to force upon me definitions that are patently contrary to who I am. If homosexuals wish to have aberrant sex, they are free to do so. They are not free to force societal acceptance of their corruption in any way.
The unique self-expressing nature of man is what makes us uniquely human. That nature is present at the very moment of conception and no earlier. Even human thought is predicated upon this nature. It comes before all else and must be included in any definition of man. Abortion, like murdering Jews and enslaving blacks, denies this self-expression, arbitrarily defining away humanity for the perverted convenience of other humans. This is essentially why many people link slavery to the Holocaust and why they link both these abominations to the abomination of abortion. They all erroneously define away humanity. Homosexuality similarly denies humanity and completely lacks integrity with the fundamental human scheme that makes human existence possible. To accept any of these abominations is quite a lot of madness.
I care about them because I care about human identity, integrity with nature and self-preservation. |
