If Edwards is a liberal who to you is a centrist? Bush? Got news for you, though Bush's father started as a centrist GW has moved pretty far to the right wing. the compassionate conservative and environmental and education president stuff is mainly just talk and slogans. he acts like a righty. I would classify Colin Powell as a Centrist. But he doesn't have a voting record. If he did you might find it very close to Kerry or Edwards. Or minus abortion to McCain. You have to stop listening to the right-wing talkshow hosts who call everything Democrat "liberal". That's a big fat lie. Real liberals dont vote for the Iraq War like Kerry and Edwards did, for instance. Lieberman is definitely not a liberal. He's to the right of Bush sometimes. Clinton and Gore are pretty moderate. Have to get your positions right. Want to know who the most right-wing major leaders are in our country? Cheney and Delay. Far to the right. 0% voting record on the environment and civil rights. even vote against school lunch programs. Certainly as far right as Pelosi is left. Now Pelosi is a liberal. And proud of it. And what's so wrong about being right or left of center? Not everyone can be a centrist. But the center is where you usually win national elections. Very important. Watch Bush try to move to the center now but have a difficult time doing so because most of his staff, past positions and fellow GOP leaders are right-wing. When the GOP dissed their own moderates they made a fateful decision. Jeffords may be just the beginning of their problems. If McCain joins Kerry, then Bush is finished. Bushies have claimed the right-wing for themselves. But a majority of Americans are NOT right-wing. Only about 30-35% are right-wing. Bush ran as a conservative/centrist in 2000 but lied and once he was in turned farther right. For instance promising to sign the Kyoto Treaty then dissing it. Absent a 9-11 or Iraq he cannot win again with his policies. Not unless people swallow the lies again that he is a semi-centrist. If they do then shame on us for being fooled twice.
