I think Castro simply wants to die in peace knowing his people get fed, that they play an excellent level of baseball and that every American who wants one is able to smoke a cigar from his country.

Fidel's record says otherwise. If he has placed a couple of thousand of Cuba's best in Venezuela to back Chavez, a civil war could break out. All bets would be off as to when Venezuelan crude and refined products would start shipping again to the US. The damage a civil war could do to oil production, refining and loading facilities could be devastating.
