The ones pulling in the really big bucks could care less, they've gotten what they wanted and to hell with the rest of the population. This is the same cynical mindset that works in the heads of all despots; get what you can and then the consequences can be arranged to favor all your preferences.

This is the corruption of the human spirit, it occurs within all groups and acts to it's own ends all the time.

Many law firms fat from class action money took the lead and actually set up hedge funds to short the markets from 2000 down, this is a symptom of a bigger illness. Once these type of people are firmly entrenched, getting rid of them wont be easy. It's never about the victim, it's always about self interest and what comes thereafter. Each case is but a means to some other end.

John Edwards is but the first example of how this happens and what follows.
