I suppose Castro today trades with Venezuela much like the United States trades with Canada.

You suppose incorrectly. One of the beefs about this fearless leader of Venezuela is that he has been selling Castro cut-rate oil. Commies tend to stick together.

Please, there is no comparison.

The trade there is between Cuba and Venezuela is mostly: Cuban Mercenaries, Political and Security Advisers , a hug and a kiss once in a while making Chavez feel important, in exchange for chip Oil to be paid in 20 years if ever, Some free oil and most important Cash ....
