The fundamental fallacy in your model is that there are only two camps, which leads to unnecessary, misleading and endless pissing matches.

the term liberal or conservative has changed over the years...

Which only makes it all the less accurate when you insist that all people are either one or the other.

Terms such as these are not ugly words...

No, but they cheapen the debate by encouraging either/or mindsets, which in turn discourages finding the middle ground of agreement. Every situation becomes a "we won, they lost" affair.

Michael, I appreciate that you have kept this debate both civil and thoughtful, but I think we have pretty much come to the end of any productive dialogue on the matter; we are both rehashing old arguments. Let's move on, OK?
