Mark Hulbert at cbs.marketwatch.com investigated the "January Barometer" and found that it was bunkum. He found that the best returns were made from investing when January was down. The article can be found in the newsletters section of the site, but you will neeed to register for free as it is more than 24 hrs old. Hopefully CBS Marketwatch will stop pulling sites from password free access after 24 hrs. There are some good articles there but I have enough passwords and don't want another one.
