GOP party of Lincoln? Not anymore. Since they took in the Dixiecrats they have negated any Lincolnesque qalities they may have had when they were more moderate. Wooing in the George Wallace voters after 1972 was a key strategy for the GOP and they succeeded. Now the old Dixiecrats largely control the GOP along with the related Texas oil cabal.
