I don't see how you can fault Bush for not nation building in Irag before we take it over, John.

You miss my point, Bill. If the Bush folk fail to do so in Iraq, as they have failed to do so in Afghanistan, and if they do, as Friedman and Ignatieff both worried, treat Iraq as a gas station, then the consequences will not be pretty. Iraq is different from Afghan in a great many ways and one of them is that the negative consequences of not doing the follow up stuff are likely to be far greater than in Afghanistan.
