Empire is bad but we are building an empire &)(^^*^%*)^% brain spazzz. Therefore, we aren't being imperialistic or building an empire, but those damn Iraqis are going to get it anyway, now that we've dealt with the Taleban. Next, North Korea. Then, get the America's Cup back. China needs a bit of attention in regard to Taiwan. Oh, the Foreign Office on Whitehall is going to be busy ... ooops, I mean the Foreign Office in the White House.

I love it when you rant, Mq.

Lovely. But why DEMAND what you are going to get anyway ? The American Empire. It started on December 8, 41. And nobody serious asked no one anything about the ifs and so on, since that date.

Why not after all... Isn't it natural for the biggest and strongest economical-intellectual system to impose it's method and choices on his planet ?

It happens that I like their methods and philosophies. But as long as they don't/won't impose me their food instead of the Arab or the French one, we'll have no problem.

Would you happen to see one? In the making, may be?

The funny thing is that our US friends writing here, kind of shy this subject.
Because they don't want to sound hegemonistic. And that's bound to happen fast, a few words, and a strong, fair, liberated Liberal sounds like a Hawk.

Ironic. When people own half the planet or more, they aren't morally allowed to boast about it.

What's power good for!

You are good, guy. I could sit here half the night and not come up with a post to address yours. I'm going to print it out, pass it around, chuckle over it for several days, share it at coffee break in the morning. Who knows. You may become famous.

Anyway, it's not an American Empire, it's a Mqurice Empire - I've just hired the Americans to do the dirty work for me. Just as I switched allegiance from the British Empire when they continued to go wrong, I'll switch from the American Empire when it goes off the rails.

This is probably the wisest way of looking at it…

Maurice, I see that you noticed that lucid deterministic STRATFOR gem. I was surprised that no one made any comments. Clearly, they are on to something in this article, those guys. They seem to think that an empire will evolve… inevitably, and – not because of a lust for power, but because of an internal logic of merely trying to achieve security… and survive.

I have been wondering over the years about all those empires in the sci-fi movies, like ‘Star Wars’ and many others…or, the Federation in the ‘Star Treck’ – could it be that the artistic intuition of their makers was telling them something?… -g/ng.
