I understand Hubberts peak, and I agree it is about oil.

But there is a difference between delusions of exploiting the Mideast again and wanting to ensure oil supply can be maintained reliably.

Hi Noel de Leon; Re Hubbert's peak and Iraq.

It's kind of ironic, but the effect of sanctions has been to force Iraq to husband their oil reserves. Consequently, in the long run, they may end up with more income from the sales. I wonder if it would be enough to pay for the Kuwait reparations, though.
