As for my comments about the consequences of the inactions of the Bush administration vis a vis the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, I was, unfortunately, being unacceptably terse. All I meant was the failure of the Bush administration to push for a "political horizon" as the term seems to be. Sharon will not negotiate unless pushed by the Bushies. They should have pushed for that, been much more active. And insisted the negotiations had to take place with whomsoever the Palestinians put forward.

Frankly, Bill, I said that last bit in my post to Paul, that I hoped I was wrong, that the failure of the Bush folk to do that had made things much worse and, so far as I can now tell, had left the conflict to the extremes of each side. I hope I'm wrong; but right now I fear I am not.
