"Government is too big and too intrusive" I heard that slogan over and over from Republicans in 1994. Now we have a Republican President and a Republican Congress. Guess what? Government is bigger and Government is more intrusive than ever.

yup, that is the crux of the situation. A great politician would do what needs to be done for the best interest of the country. But as I suggested earlier, this is likely political suicide.
