I thought I remembered DO as originally standing for 'data only' but it was changed to 'data optimized'? I still see references on the Qualcomm site to DO as 'data only', but..... What does the name 1xEV-DO signify? 1x = Part of CDMA2000 family: 1.25 MHz channel, high-volume cost curves, same RF components as used in existing networks and devices, same coverage as cdmaOne and CDMA2000 networks. EV = Evolution of the system. DO = Data Optimized, highest realizable performance for packet traffic. qualcomm.com
