Tim Re...In Korea it obviously would have meant dealing with china as we were already at war with them.< One piece of history you are leaving out here is that Mc Arthur wanted to invade NK, in order to trap the communist forces in SK. Truman would have none of it,(for fear of WWIII) and fired him. Vietnam, and NK, like all of the cold war battles were designed to counter and contain the spread of communism, not defeat it. That also is the problem with the dem. thinking today, that we should just counter terrorism, not do what it takes to defeat terrorism.
