I would agree with you only to the degree that it's been necessary for 3 years now for all of us to think outside the cranium. 'Technology' (whatever that means) remains a vibrant industry but the islands showing such life are very small and very isolated.

I've been out of the equipment sector for ~8 months (after being in it as my largest single sector weighting for 5+ years). In my opinion, the ongoing 'perfect storm' of gross over-capacity and sickeningly weak demand will constrain this space (what an '02 word, eh?) for the foreseeable future.

[Disclosure: the following statement may contain highly self-serving components including, but not restricted to, equities I own and/or those I may purchase in the near future.]

'Outside the cranium' has led me to stocks such as PUMA, ITWO, and PCSA over the past ~6 weeks. This approach, upon the most superficial inspection, has serious pitfalls. OTOH, as shown by the news from PUMA today ( biz.yahoo.com ) , some isles are indeed flourishing.
