Yes.
My daughter's room is painted like a rain forest (ask Sarkie) and I have a rattan chair and a "jungle" type theme for bed linens. But now that she is older, she wants Shabby Chic.

So your daughter will change her mind, and you hate to have ruined that bed. Play with linens instead.

Don't ruin the antique.

Put it away and buy an inexpensive bed to fit the motif.

Don't paint it...! And if you doubt the wisdom of that, go to ebay and look up similar antiques....especially if it is well done as well as old. Paint, cheap furniture and sheets do wonders....
