Turkey, to my understanding, has more severe problems than money, at least long term.

They have just begun on their own kurdish problem and know that there is no solution
outside EU, which, in addition to the already change on capital punishment, demands
human rights and not playing international poiltics for short term cash.

Obviously Turkey know that their NATO position is not what it was during the Cuba crises,
not to forget what "the turks in the streets" think, all of the different ones, having lived
through a lot of things.

Obviously few turks have a dream of becoming something like Puerto Rico to USA.

Turkey's priority is to prevent a probable "Kurdistan" after Saddam is taken down.

They have a significant minority of Kurds, who have been fighting for independence (taking a chunk out of south-eastern Turkey) through their terrorist organization PKK. The last thing they want is a Kurdish country as a neighbour.

So, I expect the Turkish army to go into Northern Iraq big time if America invades Iraq.

Other than that, they will probably ask for (and get) from America the usual stuff - some billions of foreign debt erased, more aid from America, lobbying for their entry into Europe, etc.
